I have been using EF 50mm f/1.4 USM and It was kind of slow. How does this one compares to EF 50mm f/1.4 in regard of focusing speed? It seems to focus just as fast as the 35mm f2 and 50mm 1.4, in other words just fine, if not bloody instantaneous like a 70-200 f4.

Thanks! The advantage of the 24 / 2.8 STM over the 18-55 / 3.5-5.6 STM IS is that it's a stop faster, smaller, and lighter (the resolution and vignetting differences between them are trivial). The advantage of the zoom over the prime (aside from the obvious fact that it goes from 18-55mm rather than being locked in at 24mm) is that it has IS.

I'm just surprised that they can build a small pancake for crop sensors, I had read this was impossible because of the flange distance. With light weight and size, this may replace the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 as my favorite lens. This is an awesome lens i bought for T2i. I'm planing to make a switch to A6300 in future. But I can't find a good 35mm compact lens for A6300 with the close up capability of this lens.
